Gold Coast’s top draft pick has wasted little time showing his new teammates what he’s capable of on the track.
Kade Kolodjashnij, selected by the Suns with pick five in the national draft, showed off his athletic ability by being among the first home in the club’s 2km time trial.
Kolodjashnij, who
had been training with the club’s other new draftees while his teammates were on a high-altitude training camp in the US, had impressed last week in an earlier run.
But in Monday’s conditioning session the Tasmanian showed his more-seasoned teammates fitness won’t be an issue for the gifted midfielder.
Kolodjashnij set the pace early before older teammates Jeremy Taylor and Dion Prestia edged clear in the final stages.
Fellow midfielders Jaeger O’Meara and David Swallow, also noted strong runners at the Suns, finished fourth and fifth.
Kolodjashnij’s twin brother Jake has started training at Geelong after being selected by the Cats with pick 41.
